About

Herpes nerve pain in the leg can be a lingering and uncomfortable symptom of the herpes zoster (shingles) virus or, less commonly, HSV-2. This type of nerve pain—called postherpetic neuralgia—can feel like burning, stabbing, or tingling along nerve pathways in the leg. It may persist even after the rash disappears. The pain is caused by inflammation or damage to nerves during the viral outbreak. Antiviral medications, pain relievers, and nerve-stabilizing drugs like gabapentin or pregabalin are commonly prescribed for relief. For some, physical therapy or acupuncture may help reduce symptoms. If you're experiencing herpes nerve pain in leg, timely treatment is essential to prevent chronic discomfort.
