The audition process
can be intimidating
and the audition room
can be downright
scary. But Ken's
techniques gives you,
the actor, the
foundation to succeed.
If 90 percent of the
actor's job takes place in the
audition room, then it made sense
to me to learn how to be
comfortable there. Ken's teachings
gives the actor a tangible outline
that keeps you from just "winging
it" and allows you to show multiple
"colors" that majority of the other
actors auditioning for your role
won't use. And isn't that what we as
actors want? To be able to show the
auditors all we have to offer in the
small amount of time we are given?
Also, having the class taped and
being able to watch it was an extra
bonus that gave me a lot of insight
about how I came across on film.

Ken has a unique way of
bringing out my strengths and
really making me "dig down"
and figure out what every
scene means to me and the
character. I love how he really
pushes me and I don't even
know it -- it just happens. He
doesn't’ give "lip service" - he
is the real thing. He provides a
perfect balance of
compliments nd constructive
criticisms with every class!

I have been in Ken's
class for about two
years. Ken's teaching
strategy is very
nurturing, but at the
same time, he is
constantly motivating his students
and pushing them to grow. The
environment in class allows the
student to take risks, to challenge
him/herself and to challenge others.
Ken focuses on each student and
guides him/her
through a learning process that is
exciting, fun, and even a little scary
at times. The combination is
downright awesome!
Check it out!

As an accomplished stage actress, I realized
no too long ago that I was limiting myself by
not being open to the opportunities that film
and television offer. I was hesitant to try
something that seemed so foreign, but found
quickly that I always looked forward to
attending Ken's on-camera acting class (and
I still do!). It's wonderful to be in an honest
environment where it's safe to explore and
experiment with characters and emotions.
Ken doesn't feel the need to tear students
down to build them back up. He focuses on
each of our strengths while challenging us in
areas in which we need to grow stronger.
After only a few months in Ken's class, I
began getting callbacks on a consistent
basis. Not only in film and television, but in
theatre auditions, too. Now, I still relish my
callbacks, but I'm truly enjoying all the
bookings!

The audition class is
THE BEST class. It is
as good as a month
of private lessons
condensed into one
night! My improved
auditions have
resulted in a huge
increase in call backs.

Ken,
I want to thank you for saving my life! I know
that sounds little extreme but I was in a deep
rut and felt like I had lost "me" to my work. I
worked every day of the week, no real days off
and even when I went to bed, I dreamed about
work. I really felt like I did not have a life
outside my practice of medicine.
Although I love my work, as a physician, caring
for people at the end of their lives,
Geriatric Medicine it was all I had in my life
and I forgot about my passion for acting.
When I received your card in the mail about
your Acting Classes, it was like I was smacked
in the face. It was a wake up call. I had not
even noticed that my work had consumed my
life to such an extent that I had forgot about my
passions. I took the leap and began attending
your classes.
I had taken acting classes many years ago, in
Los Angeles, San Diego, and Hawaii. They
were
good and I found value in them, but is seems
that your teaching techniques, even in a
classroom setting, are like one-on-one
instruction. I cannot believe how much I have
grown in my acting. It seems like I am finally
"getting it". Thanks to you, my confidence in
acting has increased. Pursuing TV and film
auditions do not seem as daunting of a task...I
actually look forward to them without as much
nervous energy. I feel that I have more of
a relaxed command and can be more creative in
the process and ENJOY the moment.
Thanks again for "saving my life".
And the icing on the cake is that I do not dream
about work anymore.
Sincerely,
Dr. Howard Cohen
One of the most frequently used phrases in acting class is, “ What stops you in life, stops you in acting”, I did not know if I believed that when I first started. I now know that it is absolutely true, so much so, that I use the principles of acting class in my daily life. This class is about learning to be a better actor, but it is also teaching me about being a better person. I have been able to feel more confident and stronger in areas of my life which I did not think was possible. I recommend this class to everyone I meet because you not only learn a valuable skill from someone whom is knowledgeable, but you also learn more about what you are afraid of. The great thing about finding out what your fears are, you start to fear them less or not fear them at all.
I had never taken acting classes before. I thought it would be something fun that I could do for myself. Now, it is still fun, but it is also very challenging in a way that makes it mean more to me than I thought it would.
Ken is very gifted, he perceives your strengths and encourages them. Areas where you are not as strong, he helps you to work them out in an environment that is safe and supportive. I am constantly grateful that a dear friend of mine asked me to join him in class and I am also grateful for what I have learned. Thanks, Ken!
